Only two spots remain open for 2026

We had planned to make this trip a one-off expedition. The logistics alone are daunting, but not long after completing our first Great Himalayan Traverse, we realized it was too good not to repeat. With only two spots left open, this trip is sure to sell out, so don’t wait to get on board.

BOOK NOW

In 2018 we set out to develop a world’s first overland route to cross the entire span of Nepal by way of the highest network of roads and trails in the Himalayas. Over the next five years we continued to keep track of new roads slowly threading their way through some of the most rugged and remote landscapes in Asia. Eventually, through countless weeks and months of scouting, a route began to emerge.

In November of last year a team of eight riders became the very first to complete this world’s first journey. A journey we call, the Great Himalayan Traverse.

This remarkable route passes through 25 of Nepal’s 77 districts. From lowlands to high Himalayas, the route twists and turns through the foothills on route to our end point, the beautiful tea fields of the Illam region next to Darjeeling, India.

It was such a beautiful and adventurous expedition, we’re doing it again in November of 2026. Along the way we’ll get to lay eyes on eight of the ten tallest mountains on earth including the tallest - Mount Everest.

There is no expedition quite like this anywhere in Asia. And only Far Xplorer can pull it off. Now you can join us. Are you ready to Traverse the Himalayas?

Live the ADVENTURE

EXPEDITION OVERVIEW

  • We will limit the size of this team to just eight riders. It's a number we have found offers the fluidity required to move freely in rugged areas.

  • Like many of our remote explorations, we will travel with our full support staff of seasoned pros. This will include three cooks, one mechanic, one expedition leader, road guide, camp porters and drivers.

  • There are very few hotels or restaurants where we will be traveling so riders will enjoy our legendary mobile basecamp. Our light and fast version still offers multi course meals, hot showers, and other surprising luxuries.

  • A true expedition of this type requires extensive planning and alignment of resources, all of which will fall within the trip fare. That includes; all accommodations within the trip dates, including the arrival day, meals, motorcycles, fuel, permits, and all of our extensive guide services. You won't reach for your wallet for two weeks.

After our team gathers in Kathmandu, we will board a one hour flight to the western city of Dhangadi near the lower western corner of Nepal. From there we immediately head east passing through the jungled lowlands and Bardiya National Park. After crossing the famous Karnali River and Nepal’s longest bridge we begin our ascent into the high foothills.

For the next four days we press eastward following the rise and fall of the world’s largest foothills. By day five the Himalayas come into view with the 7th tallest mountain on earth serving as our best view yet.

After a half-day rest in the lakeside town of Pokhara, we continue on to Kathmandu, the halfway point of our journey. In the east we explore more remote roads high in the hills with a promising chance to see Mount Everest from a distance. More lush hills and views of icy Himalayas put us in Illlam, Nepal’s famous tea growing region adjacent to Darjeeling, India. A flight out of Bharatpur in the far eastern corner of Nepal places us back in Kathmandu, a full crossing of Nepal complete.

We are the only company in Nepal to have ever attempted this impressive feat of travel across the Himalayas. And you can be a part of it.

Words from the Expedition Leader

The extreme diversity of Nepal is difficult to describe to those who have yet to experience it. On this trip, we not only explore that diversity west-to-east, we opted to begin in the lowlands, ascend to high hills and Himalayas, and drop again to the border regions of the south. It affords us unfathomable experiences like spotting endangered crocodiles on day two, and watching the morning’s first light hit a 27,000 foot peak, right in front of us at Camp 4. This is the ultimate adventure in one of the most beautiful places on earth. - Christophe Noel

I’m glad I didn’t put it off for another year. In fact I wish I had gone sooner. It was the best trip of my life.

Modeled after the finely appointed camps used to climb the highest Himalayan summits, our mobile base camp allows us to go - anywhere. Don’t let the word camp fool you, our roving compound includes private sleeping tents, flushing toilets, hot showers, and multi-course meals served in a dedicated dining tent by our staff of cooks and porters. They are the best in the business and ensure you want for nothing while underway.

Into Illam - Land of Tea

We end this epic adventure in the beautiful and eden-like hills of Illam. Nepal’s famous tea growing region is just a hill away from the legendary tea fields of Darjeeling, India. This is a gorgeous and far flung place to end our journey and a great place to slow down before the adventure comes to a close.

  • Riders on this trip will need good off-road riding skills and confidence in variable conditions which include loose surfaces, steep slopes, and all the fun conditions of a Nepali road. Riders should be prepared for the occasional 6 hour ride day.

  • To ensure maximum enjoyment, riders should have good fitness to make long days in tough conditions more enjoyable. Please be prepared for a physical endeavor with good health and stamina a critical element.

  • Riders must be 18 years of age, hold a valid motorcycle license, and ideally you should obtain an international drivers license, which is very cheap and easy to obtain online.

And again - prior off-road riding experience and confidence in mixed terrain is a must.

  • We call our trips “expeditions” for a reason. Tours are scripted things with predictability part of the plan. Not every aspect of this type of expedition can be planned with any specificity. This is true expedition travel.
