We are a US-based LLC with our operational headquarters in Pokhara, Nepal. When you book with Far Xplorer, you are dealing directly with us. We maintain our own staff, management resources, equipement, and oversee every aspect of our own business.

We made the choice long ago to be the ultimate experts in one fantastic destination - Nepal. That’s where we are based. We don’t pretend to have knowledge of Mongolia, Tibet, India, or anywhere else. By focusing - only - on Nepal, we believe we know it better than anyone.
Exclusive routes and bespoke experiences
We spend years carefully crafting many of our routes. Our Great Himalayan Traverse, Eight Summits, West to Karnali, and Jungle to Himalaya routes visit regions of Nepal no other company can access, due in large part to our style of travel. We are often imitated, but we’re also a moving target. We continually update and innovate our routes and itineraries.

When you book a trip with Far Xplorer, you tap into our uncompromising service network. We can assist with securing flight arrangements, travel insurance, and have people available 24/7 to answer even the most basic questions. Our monthly pre-trip newsletters ensure you arrive in Nepal fit for adventure. Once underway, we often have between 5 and 10 staff members on every trip to ensure you have everything you need for a perfect adventure.

Not all tour companies are companies at all
Many tour companies are little more than independent booking agencies that contract with other local tour providers. There is no way of knowing who is really providing the service on the ground, or how adept they are at what they do.
Jack of all destinations, masters of none
Here one day, gone the next. That is how most companies operate. There is a massive difference in local expertise between someone who lives in an area, and someone just passing through. Many companies operating in Nepal are only there for a few weeks before they’re off to the next destination.
Same routes as all the rest
It’s costly to develop exclusive routes and much easier to go where everyone else goes. Book a trip with some companies and you might show up at a hotel where two other companies are already checked in. It’s tough to feel like you are seeing the most authentic parts of Nepal if most of the people around you are - other visitors. That’s not very adventurous, but it’s cheap and easy.
Good customer service is - expensive
A great way to trim costs is to cut service standards. For many companies, you might be lucky to have two or three staff members tending to a group of over 15 travelers. You might get a mechanic and driver to assist one guide. That’s not a lot of resource to ensure things always go smoothly.

Every Far Xplorer trip includes at least one staff member with advanced wilderness medicine certifications from our partners at Survival Med. Our medics are supported with professional medical supplies and equipment provided by MyMedic.com. To ensure maximum safety, our field office in Pokhara is on 24-hour standby during every expedition and we maintain direct satellite phone communications to a global emergency dispatch center. Our helicopter rescue agency in Kathmandu is always at the ready just in case. Your health and safety are top priority.
