The mountain lover’s paradise.
Cordillera Blanca Treks
The Andes of central Peru are stunning. The ivory white summits that give the region its name are laced with trails, some so old they were built by the Incas. Unlike other parts of Peru under threat of over tourism, the quiet vastness of the Cordillera Blanca is a trekker’s paradise. On this trip we venture into the high peaks of Huascaran National Park to explore high passes and soak up breathtaking views. At the end of each day we will retire to the comforts of our eco lodge situated right below the summit of Peru’s tallest summit at 22,205 feet. This is a mountain lovers adventure.

Nature - Culture - Adventure
We created this trip to explore Peru’s most dramatic mountain regions and experience the colorful cultures of the Andes, past and present. With active days and comfortable nights, we pack a lot of adventure into ten days.
In the spirit of Far Xplorer, our journey takes us far beyond the heavily traveled tourist routes to the hidden gems few get to see. From the hip cafes of Lima’s Barranco district to the pre-Incan ruins of Chavin de Huantar, this trip has a little of everything.

Arrival City - Lima
Lima offers a vibrant introduction into modern Peru. Considered one of the top five culinary destinations in the world, we will join our local food guru for a quick tour of the city’s best eateries. To better learn about the ancient cultures of Peru we will stop by the famous Larco museum as we ready for the next day’s travels.
Huaraz, Ancash
Our first ground transfer delivers us to the mini city of Huaraz. Nestled against the spectacular backdrop of Huscaran National Park and its namesake mountain, it provides a great place to relax and start to get acclimatized to the 10,000 foot elevation. We will ease into our treks in the upper reaches, which in the days ahead top out at 14,000 feet.

Included in the fare.
-
Your trip fare includes all accommodations and meals, with the exception of optional meals in Lima and Huaraz.
-
Your trip leader with be with you start to end once we meet you at the first hotel in Lima. On every trek, local guides will accompany us on every mile.
-
We don’t want you to reach for your wallet more than necessary, so all museums and extras are included. Only alcoholic drinks and optional meals are not included.
Chavín de Huántar & the Lanzon
The pre-Incan people known as the Chavin constructed a compound high in the Andes more than 2,800 years before the first stone was laid at Machu Picchu. We will take a day trip to see the Chavin temple and their most sacred relic, the stone monolith known as the Lanzon. It’s a great way to continue our acclimatization before we trek and the views of the Andes on the drive are spectacular.
Huascaran National Park
Once we arrive at our eco lodge high on the flanks of Peru’s tallest peak, we will set out on several days of treks. A few originate right outside the lodge and meander around dozens of pre-Incan burial mounds. The lodge is perfectly located to access the best treks in the region with short shuttle trips and affords the opportunity to enjoy the peace and tranquility of high mountain living.
Options and Difficulty
Travelers on this adventure will need good fitness to comfortably enjoy each day’s trek. Since most of the trailheads start at 10,000 feet and ascend to as high as 14,500 feet, we will spend ample time acclimating with short walks in the first part of the trip. Most treks are 4-5 hours in length with the Lago 69 trip a bit longer. We will always travel with a local guide with options to turn back if necessary.
Each individual trek is optional should anyone prefer to relax midway through the week.
